IC INFO;

CHARACTER NAME: Azazel
CANON & HISTORY: Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul, Character Info
AGE: really old, but looks like a young man.
CANON POINT: Virgin Soul: Episode 24, right after the defeat of Bahamut and before the epilogue.
PERSONALITY:
Azazel is seen as nefarious, like many demons. With underhanded tactics being their speciality, they're not to be trusted. If anything, they should be feared and they have been for centuries prior. It is evident that Azazel was far from sympathetic and kind during the first season (Rage of Bahamut: Genesis), but he possesses many human traits, such as compassion and mourning, as did many other demons and gods, showcased within the recent season. Still, he is prideful, to the point of sticking true to who he is till the very end.

Azazel is proud of his demon lineage, through and through. In Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, his pride is seen as more of complete complacency or hubris than racial pride. He once saw himself a narrator or a storywriter of sorts, toying with the lives of humans, such as Favaro and Kaisar for personal amusement, to the point of enabling a spectacle during Lucifer's given mission of retrieving the god key, just to watch the two duke it out. He thoroughly enjoyed all of it, feeling that he was in the proper position to do so, but his hubris backfired on him. In Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul, Azazel shows a different type of pride, one that may be the stem of his ruthlessness in the first season. Constantly, he fights the demons' new oppressors (humans), preaching to bring them back to their former glory. It's so important to him that he went to Anatae, the human capital, without Lord Lucifer's and the demon council's help. He couldn't sit back and watch as humanity ran demons to the brink of extinction; he believes they deserve more, that they are a race to be feared and respected. As the second season progresses, humanity's treatment of demons pulls him into a deeper hatred of humans. In the prior season, he saw humans as insects to play with, but in the this season he voices how much he despises humans for taking advantage of demons and tarnishing their lineage.

His pride and thought process drives him in season two. As said previously, he went to the human capital on his own without any reinforcements to fight against humans and free demon slaves. This shows his rash and reckless nature. In the first couple of episodes, he's shown acting as the infamous "rag demon" that assassinates human nobles and members of the demon slave trade. His act of rebellion started before the season began, indicated by the large bounty on his head (he is also the only bounty, showing how peaceful Anatae is outside of his actions). Later on, you learn that an underground group of demons invited him join their cause, but he rejected their offer. While Azazel is second in command to Lucifer, it's still should be considered insane to fight against humans, with their numbers and the forbidden magic that they had recently acquired. Countless times within the first half of the second season, Azazel harbored wounds from his skirmishes that Rita, the zombie doctor, tells him he might die if he kept this up. His rash decision-making also shows in how quickly he decided to rely on using Nina's power, a girl that can turn into a dragon strong enough to counter the forbidden magic. He only turned her into a dragon twice, yet he still planned out an attack that heavily relied on her during the King’s parade with the aforementioned group of underground demons.

Azazel being hasty isn't due to lack of foresight, but more of desperation for quick resolutions. He feels that demons may go extinct, a view completely opposing Lucifer, who thinks the best course of action is to wait it out. Azazel is desperate to liberate his demon brethren, believing that they couldn't survive by waiting for the human's forbidden magic to fail on them. Unlike his superior, he is one for action, extremely results-oriented, and is willing to put his pride aside to reach those results in several cases. While he conducted business at night as the rag demon, he also worked daytime in the demon morgue for humans, cleaning up demon corpses from the capital coliseum where demon gladiator battles took place. Whether it's to care for his fallen people and put them to rest or if it's to keep an eye on the King who is present every battle, he has enough self-control to work this job and not make a scene in front of a roaring human crowd. Another instance of his self-control is during the last battle versus the King and his army. He allies with Jeanne D'Arc, the holy maiden that put him to shame in the first season. Despite their differences, they shared a brewing resentment for the King and his ways and worked together on the battlefield. Likewise, he stuck around Nina's group when he was saved by Favaro from further participating in the gladiator battles, despite a several of them being humans. Knowing when to set differences aside is one of his good points.

He is abrupt, loud, and readily able to scream at you for a single mistake, but is actually reserved in normal conversations. Of course, he still yells a lot while channeling his anger and disdain. When he isn't doing a long-winded speech about uprising, oppression, how humans should be despised, he's rather composed and collected. When he woke up in Rita's clinic after Nina saved him, he nonchalantly talked to her without any doubt in his mind. To further this point, he's calm when speaking with El (who he calls Mugaro). He's also rather poised when giving orders, which can be seen when he instructed the underground demon group how to go about attacking the King's parade. Though he should be experienced due to his age, it doesn't stop him from feeling awkward and embarrassed in regards to small, affectionate gestures such as... hugging. This doesn't mean that he's shy because he wants to make friends or something. Unfortunately, he just tries to keep the number of personal relations to a minimum. As we already know, he chose to work alone till only recently. Later on, when he stuck with Nina's group, he barely conversed with them unless absolutely necessary. He even ignored El for some time during the reunion before yielding during El's farewell where he shows a glimpse of his sentimental side, telling El never to forget the adoptive name he gave him. Azazel can be rude at times, but he definitely has a heart that he tries to hide. One could say that he prefers working alone to avoid getting others involved and hurt.

His willingness to help his people is showcased in Virgin Soul, displaying that there's more to him than his cruel ways from Genesis where he would call his subordinates useless and not shed a tear for their deaths. This may be because he couldn't trust his fellow demons at the time. Like humans, demons and gods aren't always on the same page. In comparison, he never once said something similar in Virgin Soul, even when the underground demon group got annihilated by the humans during the parade raid. Instead, he properly mourned for them after he was free from the gladiator battles. He paid them a visit, giving them a moment of his time and his silence. In the end, Azazel shows bouts of compassion and kindness, even some loyalty, to those that are deserving. Demons that couldn't fend for themselves are protected and other humans that were on the run from the King also gained his aid (these being Nina, Favaro, and Kaisar). He cares for the lives of those around him, even going out of his way to save Nina when she was in his way and after his bounty. Sometimes he ends up doing unnecessary things, like adopting and becoming attached to El, a half-angel he mistakes for a demon. When El was abducted by the gods, he pleaded to Nina to turn into a dragon not to save him, but to save El. In the end, when El couldn't be saved and died to the hands of Kaisar's subordinate, he mourned the loss to the point of shedding tears. It also made him snap at Kaisar and further motivated him to kill the human King.

Of course, several instances can’t change who he is. He's a demon and he fully accepts all the reputation that comes along with it. He's cruel, pompous, rash, and only respects one person (Lord Lucifer) in his long lifetime. However, he's more than the stereotypical monster that humans have learned to fear. We get the opportunity to see Azazel's other sides—his acts of benevolence, his strong volition, and all his shortcomings. If anyone finds him in their ranks as an ally, they would be in good hands. For the most part. Kind of. If they can handle his rude attitude, domineering demeanor, and all that other baggage of a headache he brings along.
POWERS: Taken from the wiki, these are the abilities he'll lose in low-frequency worlds:
Black Magic: He is also an expert in black magic, as shown when he easily summoned several skeletons, to capture Amira, and his preferred method of fighting is to summon ghost-like black snakes to attack his foes. He has shown the ability to turn these snakes into solid weapons such as a black halberd and a black long sword.

High Speed: Azazel is extremely fast to the point that following his movements isn't easy, especially for normal humans. Due to his agility, he displays the ability to add a "teleport" effect in his rush when he is running or flying.
OTHER: did you know his granblue fantasy sprite is based on a scene from the anime?

GAME INFO;

MAGIC ABILITY: The ability to control gravity within a 15ft diameter. How well he can control this ability will depend on the object's mass, his state of mind, and how much he practices it.
PRICE: El's ocarina which is given to him and is still in his possession at this time.
ACCLIMATION: 7 | He comes from a strange world where demons, gods, and humans coexist and their endgame boss is a giant dragon that embodies destruction. In terms of weird realm shit, he'll acclimate fine, especially since they banished Bahamut to another realm in season 1. What will probably ail him is his desire to see how demons will be treated after the defeat of the dragon in season 2.
